Westend is the long-lived Polkadot test network operated by Parity Technologies. It receives runtime and protocol upgrades before Polkadot and Kusama, including the 2025 migration of balances, staking, and governance from the relay chain to Asset Hub. WND has no market value and comes free from the Polkadot faucet. Use Westend to test validators, infrastructure, and protocol-level changes, and use Paseo for parachain and dApp development.
